Hector Manuel Gomez

Hector Manuel Gomez, age 66 was born on November 5th 1956 to Maria Martinez and Baudelio Gomez in Aguascalientes, Mexico and passed away unexpectedly on September 17th 2023 in La Mesa, California As a young boy Hector played the trumpet in the school band, he also enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and boxing into his teens and early 20s. Hector came to the United States as a teen in the early 1970s. He eventually made his way to Utah for work and was there for over ten years. While in Utah, he met and married Diane Peterson and together they had two daughters, Krystal and Summer. In 1989, Hector ended up moving to La Mesa, California and that’s where he called home for the remainder of his life. It was there that he became a construction worker and worked for the union for over 23 years. He was great at his job, and took a lot of pride in his work, building a lot of businesses that stand all over San Diego County. Hectors two daughters eventually joined him in San Diego, he was thrilled because now he got to watch his four grandchildren grow. His grandchildren meant the world to him. After becoming disabled in 2013, he retired from the union and became a full-time grandpa, he absolutely adored being home and being able to see them every day. During his time home, he began putting together 4000 piece puzzles. If he wasn't on the couch watching Novelas (Spanish soap operas) or politics you could find him in his bedroom putting together his puzzles. Hector will always be remembered for his giving soul, never expecting anything in return. He will be truly missed and forever loved by his family and friends. Hector is survived by his mother Maria Martinez, his two younger brothers Juan and Raul and one younger sister Gabby Hoppe. His two daughters Krystal Gomez (Marlon) and Summer Gomez. His four loving grandchildren Melanie, Aleena, Jayshawn and Tiyaira and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is proceeded in death by his father Baudelio Gomez, his grandparents, and his younger sister Martha Martinez. Out of respect for his wishes there will not be any viewing or funeral services held. But you’re always welcome and encouraged to send your condolences to the family.
